This morning Charity was sitting in our bed watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as she often does when I have already left for work and Camille is getting ready to go. The show is one of Charity's favorites and she often sings the songs and mimics Mickey Mouse calling "oh Toodles" at the appropriate times in the show.
This morning the Mickey Mouse Club (made up of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and the rest) were going looking for a treasure. As the show often does, Mickey looked at the viewers and asked "will you help us find the treasure box?" Typically there is some reply from Charity but in this case she was quiet. Camille called from the other room "are you going to help?" Charity replied "no silly mommy. I'm not going in the movie with Mickey Mouse."
I really take for granted how funny that kid is at times (she gets it from her mom as you all know). Looks like she has no fear about keeping mom and dad's rediculous ideas in check.

Carnie-Girls
My girls decided to ride the carosel, or as Charity called it as we entered the Springville carnival, the "cinderella." as we walked through the gates she said "look dad them is riding the cinderella." I replied "I think the word you arfe looking for is 'carosel,'" to which she replied "oh yeah. look dad them is riding the carosel. that's the carosel daddy"... I know Charity... I know.
My Hot Rod Princess
The first question she asked once strapped in: "Why isn't it going?"... it will go sweetie... it will go.
Bedtime Prayers and Dolphins That Bite
Charity is at the age of waking up from dreams and not knowing what is going on. She has woken up crying or screeming on a few occasions as of late. Thursday night she woke up at 3:00 in the morning screeming for a drink at the top of her lungs. despite all efforts to calm her she screemed at full volume until nearly 4:30.
Camille and I have been discussing all avenues to help her. We have been trying praying before bedtime and each time she wakes up asking Jesus to help her sleep. We have tried rocking her for a bit. We have tried various combinations of stuffed animals and blankets. Most of these did little to nothing to help.
Last night we decided to try letting her sleep on her "big girl princess bed" which is just a twin trundel bed with pinkish sheets and conforter in her room.
We sat with her in the bed then said a little prayer with her and had her ask heavenly father to keep her safe and help her sleep. Before we left we told her that if she got scared to talk to Jesus and he would help her. All of this seemed to work. She didn't fight going to sleep and slept soundly through the night for the first time in over a week. We were ecstatic.
In the morning we got her up and told her she slept so well and we were so happy. She very excitedly told us "Jesus helped me so the dolphins didn't bite me". I'm not sure what sort of dreams she is having but it seems we have stemmed the tide of the scary dolphins.
